I use a carefully selected range of professional artist-quality coloured pencils, including Caran d’Ache Luminance and Pablo, Faber-Castell Polychromos and Derwent Drawing, to create highly detailed, lifelike portraits.
Alongside my pencils, I use specialist papers such as Clairefontaine Pastelmat and cold-pressed Arches watercolour paper. Both have beautifully textured surfaces that allow the pencil to build up through multiple layers, giving me greater control over colour, depth and detail. This layering process is what helps me achieve the rich, vibrant colours and realistic textures that bring each portrait to life.
I also carefully select pencils with excellent lightfast properties. Lightfast pigments are designed to resist fading when exposed to light, helping to preserve the colour, depth and vibrancy of your portrait for many years to come.
For me, creating a portrait is about more than simply capturing an image. It is about creating something that can be treasured for years to come. By combining professional-quality materials with a detailed, layered approach, I aim to create artwork that remains as vibrant and lifelike as possible.
