Cancellations
I take great care when packaging your portrait to make sure it reaches you safely.
All artwork is also sent with insurance that covers the full value of the piece, so it is protected while in transit.
However, in the unlikely event that your artwork is lost or damaged during transit, please contact me as soon as possible and send me clear photographs of the damage and the packaging.
Please be aware that a replacement portrait will be added to my existing commission queue, so there may be a wait before I am able to complete it.
Commissions
I reserve the right to decline a commission if I feel that the subject matter is inappropriate for me to undertake, or if I believe I cannot create the artwork to the standard or expectations required for the commission. In these circumstances, I will always aim to be honest and transparent with you before accepting the commission.
All artwork created by me remains my copyright, including original artwork, mock-ups and prints.
This means I retain the right to use images of my artwork to create prints, calendars and other promotional material.
I also love being able to share completed commissions on my website and social media, including before and after images showing the original reference photograph alongside the finished artwork.
If you would prefer me not to share your portrait online, that's absolutely fine. Just let me know before I begin your commission.
The artwork is created for your personal use and may not be copied, reproduced, resold or used commercially without my written permission.
Reference Photographs
Please make sure that any photographs you provide are either your own photographs or that you have permission from the photographer to use them for your commission.
If you are ordering a portrait as a gift, it is your responsibility to make sure you have permission to use the photographs provided.
By sending me your reference photographs, you give me permission to use them alongside the finished artwork for my website, social media and advertising, unless you have specifically asked me not to.
Please choose your photographs carefully, as the quality and detail of the reference image can have a big impact on the finished portrait. Please refer to reference photos for more details.
Terms & Conditions
I want you to feel completely comfortable and happy when commissioning a portrait from me, so I’ve put together the information below to make everything as clear as possible. Please take a little time to read through it before placing your order.
Timescale
When you book your portrait, I will give you an estimated date for when I expect to begin your artwork and an estimated date for when you should receive it.
These dates are estimates rather than guaranteed deadlines, as occasionally things happen that are outside of my control.
I will always do my best to work towards any important dates you have given me, particularly if your portrait is a gift. However, delays with postal services or other unforeseen circumstances can sometimes affect delivery times.
If there are any significant changes to your estimated timescale, I will keep you updated.
Payment
A non-refundable 50% deposit is required before I can secure your place in my commission queue and begin work on your portrait.
The remaining balance will only be due once your artwork is finished and you are happy with the final result.
Once the full balance, including postage and packaging, has been paid, your portrait will be carefully packaged and posted to the address you have provided.
Artworks
Gift vouchers can be purchased as either a physical or digital gift card. Physical gift vouchers are dispatched within 3 working days of purchase. eGift cards will automatically be sent directly to the email address provided after purchase.
Physical gift vouchers are posted through Royal Mail special delivery £5.95.
Gift vouchers are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase and cannot be exchanged for cash or refunded.
Each gift voucher can be redeemed against any products or services available at the time of redemption, excluding the purchase of other gift vouchers. The voucher can be used up to the full GBP value stated on the voucher.
Please be aware that portrait prices may change at any time. We therefore recommend redeeming your gift voucher as soon as possible after receiving it, as prices may increase after the voucher has been purchased. Any difference in price will need to be paid by the voucher holder at the time of redemption.
Once the voucher has been redeemed and used to book a commission, it cannot be used again.
Your place in my commission queue will be allocated when the voucher is redeemed, not when the voucher is purchased. This means your place is secured once the portrait details have been confirmed and the mock-up has been approved.
Gift vouchers can only be used towards an original pet portrait by Alex Walker - Portrait Artist and cannot be exchanged for cash or used to purchase other products from my online shop. Please refer to gift vouchers to purchase.Â
Gift Vouchers
For international orders, additional customs charges or import duties may apply depending on the country you are ordering from.
Any import duties, customs charges or other fees charged by your country are the responsibility of the customer and are not included in my quoted price.
Import Duty
All portraits are packaged carefully and securely and sent using a tracked postal service.
If your portrait is a gift, I can send it directly to the recipient. Just provide me with the correct delivery address when placing your order.
Please make sure the address you provide is correct, as I cannot be responsible for parcels sent to an incorrect address supplied by the customer.
Shipping
All purchases and commission payments are non-refundable under any circumstances. This includes the 50% commission deposit paid to secure your booking.
Once a deposit has been paid, if you decide to cancel your commission, no longer wish to proceed, or no longer wish to receive the completed portrait, you will not be entitled to a full or partial refund.
If you choose not to complete your purchase after paying the deposit, the portrait will not be released to you and the deposit will remain non-refundable.
Any artwork that has been started or completed will be kept safely in storage for 12 months from the date of cancellation. This allows you time to reconsider should you change your mind and wish to complete your purchase.
After the 12-month storage period has passed, the artwork may be disposed of or otherwise used at the artist’s discretion.
